Kiva Dunes: Looking Through The Past

Kiva Dunes has had some great reviews in the past and we believe they still hold true to this day, or maybe even better.

“This 1995 Jerry Pate design remains one of his best designs as well as one of the premier layouts in Alabama that anyone can play.  In fact, Kiva Dunes is the only coastal course in Alabama,” says Bob Fagan in a 2010 article, Golf Course Review: Kiva Dunes, Gulf Shores, Alabama. Bob features one of the most interesting and accomplished backgrounds in all of golf.

Derek Duncan of Gulf Coast Golf, says, “Kiva Dunes is pure coastal golf – it’s built amid existing dunes, patches of roughed up coastal vegetation, and the refreshing maritime winds that blow constantly across the property. In fact the omnipresent wind gives the golf at Kiva Dunes its most distinctive quality.” Derek Duncan’s writing has appeared in,,,, LINKS Magazine and more.

“Long considered one of the Southeast’s best tracks, Kiva Dunes is a links layout hugging the Gulf Coast. The Jerry Pate-design stretches to 7,092 yards from the tips, and while its fairways are inviting, the ubiquitous Gulf Coast winds give the course some serious teeth,” says Fairways and Greens in Tracks We’d Love to See on Tour.

Kiva Dunes is a classic place for some and a new adventure for others. Either way we think it is a great course. If you haven’t tried it, what are you waiting for?
